a woman strength

The verse that first comes to mind when I think of strength is the one which says: “but His strength is made perfect in weakness”, and so many times I have quoted this verse, mostly to myself, sometimes to others. But it is not an excuse to be a bag-of-jelly and expect God to do everything for me. I am really coming to believe that strength starts with me. It is not about attempting to do things in my own strength, but recognising that I am responsible for taking the first step. It takes strength to say “yes” to God, and “no” to those things which are not of God, but have to trawl that strength up from deep within ourselves, even when we really don’t want to! Once we have taken that first step then God indeed comes in and gives us strength for the journey, but initially, it is not about wimping out. Every first step is a step of the will, directed rightly towards God or falsely away from Him…

But golly ~ it can hurt!

A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape but a woman of strength looks deep inside to keep her soul in shape

A strong woman isn’t afraid of anything but a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear

A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journeybut a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong.
